Thanks to many citizens concerned enough about fair and verifiable elections in Arizona, AUDIT AZ has achieved its fundraising objective to pay for litigation in this year’s presidential primary. $3,000.00 have been obtained for the initial costs of filing a lawsuit in Maricopa County, Arizona with the goal to “Verify before it’s Certified”.
Arizona Secretary of State Michele Reagan is set to certify the Arizona Primary results this afternoon at 3:00 PM. Due to four major problems with Arizona’s statewide elections, however, AUDIT AZ will request that additional auditing take place and that a remedy by addressed for over 150,000 voters who were kept from the polls due to a reduction in polling centers. John Brakey, the founder of AUDIT AZ, explained to me their approach:
We want five precincts randomly pulled and checked for a hand count audit. This time, we need the results before they count them. If it turns out dirty, we want a re-vote in June.
Brakey refers to Pima County’s practice of performing the hand count audit prior to actually having election results. Having no numbers to compare with an audit is true election theater. In addition to over 150,000 voters disenfranchised in Maricopa County, many other voters’ registrations were falsely classified as ineligible to participate in the Primary election.
While Bernie Sanders’ legal team concentrates on getting 20,000 provisional ballots counted to get a more accurate delegate count, AUDIT AZ is outside of the Sanders’ campaign and more likely to address issues of Arizona election fraud.
